All life has an origin, every piece of art a history. Dugul is the Lezgi word for “root,” describing both the historic origin and the organic nature of these woven art pieces. Avidly collected antique Caucasian sumakhs are largely attributed to the Lezgi people, a distinct people group who call the rugged Caucasian mountains their home. Women’s hands rooted in this rich weaving tradition once again craft masterpieces for the next generation.

Note: Thank you for your interest in Dugul Looms. We are overwhelmed by the initial success of this project. All of our completed sumakhs are sold (except 010 and 016b). We are eager to notify you once we begin weaving again, so please be sure to sign our guestbook.
